Join Tampa Hackerspace on November 9th for the first Restart Party in North America. This is a fun and free community event where volunteers experienced with electronics help others learn to repair and maintain their broken or slow devices. Restart Tampa runs from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.
A Restart Party is a collaborative process, not a “free repair.” Repairs are done along with the item’s owner. This is done to share skills and empower people in the community to become responsible consumers. The basic conservation philosophies of reduce, reuse, recycle are fundamental to the event. Many items destined for landfills can be repaired, refurbished or repurposed. For the remaining items, there will be electronics and metals recyclers on hand to responsibly recycle as much as possible. For the event, the recycling partner is Urban e-Recycling, a local electronics recycling company.
The event will include a community swap meet, food vendors, and music.
