Critical thinking is one of the most important skill sets to obtain and develop in life. This course aims to provide people of all ages and backgrounds a basic set of concepts and tools by which to look at and analyze the world. The content will help the student think more efficiently, ask better questions, and critically engage with any concept or issue (at any scale from the individual to the social).
Even though this course is built for anyone, I highly recommend this course for educators (public and private), young adults, and college students. This is regardless of the level of education or field of study; these concepts work!
Here is the agenda:
• Basic concepts
• Considerations for thinking
• Structured thinking
• Analytic tools
Instructor: Joe Blankenship (http://www.meetup.com/Tampa-Hackerspace/members/130184182/)
No materials are required, but I recommend bringing a laptop or note taking materials as we’ll be covering a lot of material in a short period of time.
Optionally, The Thinkers Toolkit by Morgan D. Jones was used throughout the analytic tools section of the course. It is NOT a definitive set of tools for the critical thinker, but it is a good starting point for the novice thinker.
