Turn your project in VCarve into appropriate toolpaths for either the Shopbot or Shapeoko.

This class will show you how to setup the default bits for each tool and export the toolpaths for Hackerspace’s Shapeoko and Shopbot CNC machines.

Prerequisite
Students should have their own laptops with the Makerspace Edition of VCarve installed and ready to go. To get the software, go to http://www.vectric.com/downloads/trial-software/vcp8.html to download the VCarve Pro Trial Edition. Once installed, you will need to “enter the Makerspace ID to connect the trial to the Makerspace client”. This ID number is pinned in the #CNC channel on THS slack.

This meetup is open to paid members only. For details on becoming a member of Tampa Hackerspace, please visit http://tampahackerspace.com/membership/

Note 1: This is not the only way to generate toolpaths for these machines. To use either, you must have a usable toolchain for CAM. We currently support Fusion 360 and VCarve as valid toolchains. Either of these would be a suitable prerequisite for sign off on the Shapeoko or Shopbot.

Note 2: This will be the first time we’re offering this class. Treat the instructor with kindness while we work through the bugs.
