This is a homebrew meetup for people interested in developing software defined radio projects using GNU Radio. For those who are new to SDR and GNU Radio, there is an introductory course that runs concurrently with the homebrew.
The introductory course is derived from the work of Balint Seeber (the SDR guru of Ettus Research fame). It is divided into 5 labs which introduce the student to the basic functionality of the GNU Radio Companion (GRC). This will teach the student how to manipulate native laptop components used by GNU Radio, basic reception with a SDR dongle, and transmission using a more advanced SDR boards. Here is the agenda:

You will require:
Laptop; GNU Radio (Live DVD, ISO, or built from source on VM/laptop); Ubuntu 14.04 (ISO for VM or installed); VirtualBox (if building a VM in Windows or Mac OS)
Optional Requirements:
RTL-SDR dongle (recommended for Lab 4; not required for Lab 1-3); can bring HackRF or other advanced SDR boards if you would like; HAM license require for transmission on Lab 5.

Introductory Class for Non-Members: $15 Tuition
Introductory Class for Members: $5 Tuition
RTL-SDR Dongle: $20 (optional)
