This course will cover the basic theory and application of radio wave propagation, antennas, and common antenna construction. A final exercise using near field communication (NFC) will elaborate on how these concepts are both conceived and applied through the use of a NFC shield and MiFare enabled chips.
Students should bring a laptop. If you want your own NFC shield (not required for the class but it will be demonstrated), we can preorder them and have them available for $35 each or you can buy it yourself directly from https://www.adafruit.com/products/789 . These require an Arduino Uno or compatible. Contact us through meetup for preorders.
This class is $10 for members and $20 for non-members. The member price is for paid members of Tampa Hackerspace. Information on becoming a paid member can be found on our website. If you wish to use a credit card or purchase the NFC shield, you can prepay for the class at our Square Marketplace.
